16 Day Tanzania Tour (Empaakai Crater Hike)

This 16 Day adventure will take you on one of the most stunning, yet less travelled routes in Tanzania. The tour begins with luxury lodges and game drives to help you unwind and settle in before you head into the Empakaai Crater. You will be guided by Maasai through the diverse landscapes of the Ngorongoro Crater highlands, learning about local tribes and customs and getting a rare glimpse into a way of life that has defined this part of East Africa for centuries. The tour finishes on the Spice Island of Zanzibar.

We have carefully planned an 9 Day cultural tour to encompass the ultimate blend of nature, wildlife and village life. You will game drive through two of Tanzania’s best safari parks complimented with luxury lodges and time to unwind and relax. Tarangire National Park is famous for its herds of elephant and The Ngorongoro Crater is revered for the rare black Rhino and an unusually dense population of wildlife, including lions, zebras, wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelles, ostriches, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, and flamingos.

A marriage of cultures


Dianna and Isa share a love of Tanzania and its culture, splitting their time between their home in Meru, Tanzania and their home in Melbourne, Australia. Isa and Dianna first met in 2011 when Dianna climbed Mt Kilimanjaro. They now have a beautiful 4 year old son to share their love and cultures.





Dianna is one of Australia's leading architectural photographers. She has travelled extensively throughout Tanzania photographing on assignment for tour operators and lodges. Dianna has summited Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru, hiked the Empakaai Crater and trekked through Usambara. She has volunteered for various charities and fundraised to support vulnerable, at risk children. Dianna is passionate about the economic empowerment of the Tanzanian people and actively supports local small business initiatives.


Mountain Guide

Isa is from Ngyani Village, Arumeru in Tanzania where he lived before migrating to Australia in 2014 for the birth of their son. Isa is a Kilimanjaro Mountain Guide with over 10 years experience successfully guiding clients up this great mountain. Isa loves Tanzania and is very excited to share his knowledge and love of his country.

Tanzania is a Republic and is officially known as the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly known as Tanganyika). The country’s earliest people were hunters and gatherers, who inhabited the land as far back as 5000BC.
